We are Michael and Kerry Hetherington, a land manager and an artist with over 45 years in environmental care and creative industries.
We aim to share our love of the Australian bush with artists and nature seekers through experiencing the land and seeing the beauty therin.
Our propery covers nearly 100 acres bordering the South D'Aguilar National Park, with accesss to hiking and biking trails, and a host of rare microcosms that Michael can guide you to.
Kerry both creates and provides workshops or teaching for amazing multimedia artwork, including traditional media, sculpture and claywork, natural dying and sustainable ecoart.
At the very end of Bank's Creek Road waits the Twisted Tin Studio and Farmstay.
Twisted Tin has been settled, farmed and grazed for more than a century. The property saw various incarnations as a timber cutters' camp, Cottees jam orchard, cattle ranch, and wildlife refuge, until our arrival seven years prior.
Twisted Tin is now a tree-change refuge and artists' retreat, featuring the recently built Twisted Tin Studio, and the completely refurbished Staghorn Cottage. Nearly 100 acres of native bushland are nestled against national parklands with plentiful camping areas, seasonal creeks and rockpools, walking tracks and wildlife spotting on property.
The creekside flats have resting spaces for trial bike riders and plentiful grass for horses. Over-mountain biking and hiking trails are easily accessible for treks through the national parks to Mount Nebo, and the western corridor Rail Trail is 12.6kms down road.
We aim to create a space away from the hectic everyday rush. Get your tree-time in with the varied unusual microcosoms, from dry sclerophyll forest on the hills to pockets of deep litter pine stands. Our property retains remarkable biodiversity, as noted by local wildlife and environmental groups.
